To have a baby in HK is very cheap – if you live here. It only costs about $300 (US$40). But as this poster advertises, the cost of having a baby for mothers from the mainland is a whopping $39,000 (US$5,000) and $48,000 if you don’t have a confirmed booking. Moreover, this amount is fully payable in advance and is non-refundable. (It used to cost only $19,000 and that fee wasn’t payable in advance. But after some mothers snuck out with their babies without paying the bill, the Hospital Authority decided to get tough.) Despite these high prices mainland Chinese mothers are still queuing up to come and have their babies delivered here.

I’ve asked Shirley tons of times about you guys – what great news. Did you know that Keith came to visit us in Abu Dhabi? He was posted temporarily to Dubai and spent a night with us, went to church, did the tour schtick. Great to see him.
We’re off to Greece in 9 more sleeps – for 2 years! HOPEFULLY, we’ll get over to HK to visit! Enjoy that precious little lamb! How FUN!
